VALENTINES DAY | DISCOVERING THE LOVE OF GOD
February is known as the month of love! As we celebrate Valentine’s Day, all month long we are surrounded by messages of love from a world that doesn’t fully understand what true love is or what it even looks like. What we find in scripture is that love isn’t just something that God gives, but rather who He is. God is love!
This month we have designed a resource that is intended to help your family memorize four scriptures about God’s love for us. This resource has four posters that display the first letter of each word found in the verse that your family will memorize for that week. As your child looks at the letters, they help bring to memory each word in the verse, and over time as they read and recite them out loud they will begin to memorize these important verses about God’s love for them!
Cut out each of the posters and place them somewhere in your home that your family will see on a frequent basis. Great places would include the dinner table, on the kitchen fridge, or taped to the bathroom mirror. Find natural times in the rhythm of your family life to read the verse with your kids: the goal being to read them at least two to three times a day. Examples would be: breakfast, on the drive to or from school, dinner time, following homework, and as you put them to bed. As you read these verses as a family, talk about God’s love and what it means to you.
